PWA Alacati Day 4

Yesterday Fulya Ünlü (Starboard / Severne) won the second elimination of her career with an excellent display in the opening round and currently leads the event rankings. The nineteen year old finished last year as the PWA Youth Slalom World Champion and looks to be a real contender for the world title this year - showing great speed and textbook gybes.
Earlier on in the day we caught up with Fulya and she had this to say about the final: “I didn’t make as good a start to the final as I would’ve wanted and I was in second place at the first mark behind Marion [Mortefon]. Then at the last buoy I was able to catch and overtake her to win the final. Congratulations to all the girls - it was a really good race for me.”
The forecast looks promising for tomorrow with the wind predicted to be back to the prevailing Meltemi wind direction, which should hopefully lead to an action packed day of slalom. The skippers’ meeting has been called for 10:30am tomorrow morning with the action commencing from 11am onwards.
